In order to provide guidance on the process of restoring automobiles for our customers, the following explanation has been developed to minimize ambiguities during the process.
It is our policy not to quote prices or work for a contract price. It is very difficult to provide an exact quote for any vehicle. We understand that financial planning is a significant part of the process and should be carefully considered. We can only make educated guesses based on past experiences, which is why we can’t give exact quotes. Whether it’s a restore or a custom project, many variables need to be taken into account.
· Unforeseen damage, weathering or missing parts that are not seen during the initial inspection can occur during a restoration.
How long will it take for a custom project to fabricate parts or modify new / original parts to achieve the desired look and/or function?
Parts pricing can also very. Can new, used or NOS parts be found and how much research is required to locate them? If aftermarket parts are used, will they fit properly or how long will it take to fit them properly?
Some of the biggest aspects overlooked are actually not big at all; it’s all of the little things that are needed, like specific nuts, bolts, electrical connecters, small parts, and so on.
These small things are what make a quality job and in the end, are what will also add up to be a substantial amount in the overall parts cost.
Before we start any project, big or small, we spend a lot of time and research. Find the parts needed to do the job and design all the areas necessary to achieve the best possible result on a customized vehicle. The time of research is an important part of the process and is invoiced.
When an EXACT quote is given, one thing to consider is that if the quote is not correct, there will have to be some sacrifice! This generally means sacrificing the quality of the job. We’ll never sacrifice the quality of a job here at Street Productions for any reason.
“The sweetness of a good price is soon lost
in the bitterness of a bad job”
